Doubles Specialist Hutchins Retires

It’s been announced that doubles-specialist Ross Hutchins has retired from tennis.

The 29 year old Davis Cup player, who recently overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma said:

“I have been incredibly fortunate in my tennis career and I am proud of what I have been able to achieve, a lot of which would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of those close to me,”.

“Tennis has enabled me to do something which I love every day, to travel the world and along the way form some incredible friendships.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has played a role in my career to date and for all the support and encouragement that they have given me, especially my family, my fiancee Lindsay, my friends and my doubles partner Colin Fleming, who I have thoroughly enjoyed playing beside and who has stuck by me through good and tough times.”

Hutchins has partnered with Andy Murray but achieved his greatest success in 2011 when partnering with Fleming reached the quarter finals of both Wimbledon and the US Open.

The 29th year old retires with five ATP Tour titles having reached 13 finals. The last title came with partner Fleming at the Aegon Championships Eastbourne in 2012.
