If someone had told Roger Federer that he would be going into the US Open as favourite, having already won two Grand Slams this year, he would no doubt have thought that person was crazy.
However even though he is now in his mid-thirties he is playing some of the best tennis of his career that saw him win the Australian Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.
His chances in winning the US Open have been significantly improved with the withdrawals of several leading names including Andy Murray, Novak Dkokovic and Stan Wawrinka. His main challenger will be Rafael Nadal, who won the French Open this year, although sadly for the neutral they were both drawn in the same side of the draw so can’t meet in the final. One dark house for the men’s tournament is Alexander Zverev who has enjoyed great success this year and beat Roger Federer last month at the Canadian Open.
The Ladies draw is wide open with no Serena Williams this year and former world number one, Maria Sharapova, will be playing her first Grand Slam for over a year since her drug ban.
The US Open is the last Grand Slam of 2017 and if you are looking to see some tennis in London later this year we have packages available to the ATP Finals at the O2, which features the top eight men’s players in the world, after which we will find out who has ended the year as world number one.
We have also now released our packages to Wimbledon next year as well as our Debenture prices.
We look forward to seeing you at one of these tournaments soon.
